| Teaching and enabling The Rabbinical Seminary, Abraham Geiger Kolleg, has ordained the first three rabbis in Germany since the Holocaust. In the framework of practical rabbinics, my courses enable future rabbis to make every religious service a spiritual experience and thus to reach out to their new and growing congregations. We work on voice development, presentation, and construction of services for Shabbat and the festivals. We learn to read the tropes (Ta’amei HaMikra) for Torah, Haftarot and Megillot as well as the various prayer modes (Nussach Ha-tefilla). We learn to lead our congregations in song, to involve our congregants actively in the service and to bring them closer to the prayers. We learn how to develop an appropriate, yet warm and inviting, tradition for our new and growing congregations.
